What is entailed in volunteering? Here are some highlights:

Setup: Volunteers responsible for getting up early to help get our meets set up for a great meet. This requires a bit of physical effort, including moving supplies and tents out of storage and setting them up in designated spots on the infield of the track and at the long jump, high jump and shot put areas. You will also help set up and take down the hurdles that take place after the 3200 meter run.

Staging: Involves helping the kids get properly arranged and ordered for their events and properly entered laptop computers. Also involves escorting the kids, getting them properly set up at the start of the race and coordinating with race timers for an accurate start. We also need folks to patrol entry/exit to the infield.

Finish Line: Volunteers will help corral athletes at the end of their race, directing them off the track, to the water table, etc.

Long Jump: There are two long jump pits at NPHS and we use one for the girls and one for the boys. Volunteer requirements include corraling the kids for their jumps, ensuring there is an efficient flow, raking the sand, measuring (two are required for this), notating distance jumped, ensuring jumps are proper, etc.

Shot Put and High Jump: These events are usually run specialty coaches; volunteers will help corral and organize the kids, take measurements, place/replace high jump bar, measure throws, rake sand, etc.

Relay Zone Judges: Volunteers always needed to ensure handoffs in the 4x100 relays are done in the proper areas.

Snack Shack: Ensuring our attendees are well fed is of paramount importance, not to mention its kind of fun working in the Snack Shack, especially when the voracious crowds come for slices of pizza and subs! :)

Teardown: This end of the day role requires physical effort in taking down the tents, packing away tables, chairs and all the other supplies and placing them in our storage bin. Also involves ensuring the infield and other areas are cleaned up and immaculate as we appreciate so much the fact that NPHS provides us access to this great venue.

From year to year, NPTC may be asked by the conference to host anywhere from 3 to 5 meets, including both regular season dual meets to post-regular season "League Finals" and "Conference Championships" meets. In post-regular season meets at other venues, NPTC will be asked to provide volunteers in designated areas.

In lieu of the typical meet volunteer assignments listed above, this season we are looking for parents who can take on a regular assignment for each of the home meets.
