It was an outstanding meet, with standout performances by athletes from both clubs.

Record Setting Performances at So Cal Youth Invitational Meet
Congratulations to all the athletes who participated in the So Cal Youth Invitational Meet at Ventura High School last weekend, April 8-9. Newbury Park Track Club had a small but mighty contingent of athletes at this meet. I counted 22 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes out of 53 events entered. Great job, Panthers!
Special mentions for the following standout performances:
Bantam Boy Chase Hansen: Broke his own club record in the 100 meters two times! 14.00 in the prelims, then 13.90 in the finals
Bantam Boys 4x400 Team of Carson Richter, Jaxsen Stokes, Alex Karsten and Chase Hansen beat the previous NPTC club record by nearly 14 seconds with a 4:45.98. This time also set the So Cal Youth Invitational meet record.
Bantam Girl Lina Saley set a seven year old club record in the 200 meters with a time of 29.80!
Ailish Hawkins was just .25 second off of a 33 year old club record in the 400 meters with her 64.25.

Youth Boy Club Record Holder Christian Middleton with Announcer, Evan Mackay
History was made today at the Oxnard/NP meet in Newbury Park! Panther Youth Boy Christian Middleton ran the 200 meters in 23.46, a time that no one in the history of the Newbury Park Track Club has previously run! The previous record time of 23.55 was set by Terry Pagano in 2008. What a run! Congratulations, Christian! See the performance on the NPTC Facebook Page at THIS LINK.
Three Club Records in Three Weeks by Bantam Boy, Chase Hansen!
Chase Hansen with Meet Announcer Evan Mackay After Setting 400M Record
This may well be an all-time first for the 49 year old Newbury Park Track Club! Bantam Boy Chase Hansen, new to the sport of track and field this year (though an avid athlete), has set age group records in each of the first three meets of the 2017 season! Fantastic!!
At Heritage Valley on March 11th, Chase heated up the track on an already hot day with a 14.09 100 meters, breaking the previous record of 14.23 set by Julien Stokes in 2012. He also broke the 200 meter record with a 28.94, beating the previous Bantam Boys record of 29.77 also set by Julien in 2012.
The next week, March 18th, at Camarillo, Chase lowered his previous week's 200 meter time and club record to 28.86.
Finally, on March 25th, Chase tried the 400 meters for the first time, destroying the 43 year old record of 67.24 set by D. Brunette with a time of 65.20. Truly incredible.
Way to go, Chase! Keep up the great work! I have a feeling this is not the last time we'll be talking about records this season.
